Two retreats an hour apart in the same jungle can quote you $800 and $4,500 for a stay of similar length. Both numbers are real, both centers operate today, and the gap says less about quality than most people assume. Here are the 2026 figures we hold on file, and where the money actually goes.

What drives the price

The biggest cost is people. A center pays its curandero or healing family, its facilitators, its kitchen, and sometimes medical staff: Etnikas in the Cusco region gets recommended on Reddit precisely for its medical framing, with users citing nurses on staff. Screening adds cost too. Temple of the Way of Light runs every applicant through a questionnaire developed with ICEERS and reviewed by a licensed doctor and a psychologist, and that infrastructure is part of what its $4,440 twelve-day flagship pays for.

Group size cuts the other way. A center hosting twenty guests spreads its fixed costs wide; one capped at six cannot, yet small groups are exactly what experienced Reddit voices tell first-timers to look for. Length matters in an obvious way, and a handful of centers carry a premium for profile alone: Blue Morpho, covered by TIME and National Geographic, sits at the top of the market and does not publish its prices at all.

What price does not reliably buy is safety. Screening rigor, facilitator ratio and lineage vary at every price point, which is why we compare those fields separately on the comparison table.

Real prices at verified centers

The table below shows what centers in our research actually charge, with the source of each figure. Operator-site prices are what the center itself publishes; platform prices come from Retreat.guru and Tripaneer listings captured in July 2026.

Read as a week, the middle of the market lands between $1,200 and $2,500. Dreamglade's day rate works out to roughly $1,400 for seven nights, in the same band. At the value end, AyaSelva charges $1,200 for 7 days with four ceremonies, six guests maximum, and medicine cooked on site; our AyaSelva review covers why it is the center we point budget-conscious first-timers toward.

What all-inclusive actually covers

At the centers that publish details, the retreat price is genuinely most of the trip. AyaSelva's fee covers a private room with its own restroom, all ceremonies, diet-compliant meals, transport from Iquitos including the boat, jungle walks, plant baths and integration sessions, with the operator stating there are no hidden costs. Dreamglade's day rate is likewise all-inclusive, lodging and ceremonies together.

What no listing on file covers is getting to the region. Flights to Lima and the connection to Iquitos, Cusco or Pucallpa are yours, and so is any night you spend in town outside the program. Deposit and cancellation terms vary center to center and were not consistently published in our research pass, so confirm them in writing before you pay anything.

Where does every priced center land on one ladder?

Across the 21 centers with prices on file from our July 2026 research pass, entry points run from $545 for a short Selva Madre stay to $4,440 for Temple of the Way of Light's 12 days. Read per day, most established centers cluster between $150 and $300, and the names above that band are charging for staffing, screening or reputation.

The table sorts every center we hold a price for, cheapest entry point first. Prices are from-prices captured in July 2026 from operator sites, Retreat.guru and Tripaneer, so treat them as the floor of what you will actually be quoted. The per-day column is our own arithmetic on the listed price and length, rounded, for comparison only; it is a planning number, not something any operator claims.

A few things jump out of the sorted view. The Sacred Valley is not the expensive option people assume: Etnikas and Willkamayuspirit both sit in the lower half. Length is where per-day value hides, since AyaSelva's 12-day program at $1,800 works out near $150 a day and Psychonauta's 10 days land at $125, while short premium retreats push past $330. And the widest ranges, Arkana and Marosa at $2,100 to $4,500, reflect room categories and program tiers, so the top of a range is as real as the bottom.

What do $750, $1,200 and $4,440 actually buy?

Three real listings mark the tiers. Ayaymama Mystic's $750 covers 4 days with little else verified. AyaSelva's $1,200 buys 7 days, 4 ceremonies, a six-guest cap and stated screening. Temple of the Way of Light's $4,440 buys 12 days with doctor-reviewed screening and two decades of institutional infrastructure.

Put the three side by side and the price gap turns into a concrete list of what each tier documents:

The middle tier is where documentation gets thick without the price doing the same. What $1,200 at AyaSelva adds over the budget listing is not comfort, it is verifiable structure: a named curandero, a stated ceremony count, a cap of six guests, and a screening process you can read before paying. What $4,440 adds on top is clinical review of that screening, a longer immersion, and an institution that has run for over 20 years. Whether that trade is worth 3.7 times the price depends on your medical history and your appetite for ceremony count, not on the jungle, which is the same jungle.

What does the full trip cost beyond the retreat fee?

Plan the trip as the retreat fee plus five allowances you set yourself: the international flight to Lima, the connection to Iquitos or Cusco, town nights on each end, tips and gear, and travel insurance. No listing on file covers the journey to the region, so those lines are always yours.

We deliberately do not print flight prices here, because they move with your origin city and season and would be stale in a month. The worked example below is a structure to fill in with live fares for your dates:

Two honest caveats belong next to that table. First, screening claims are process claims made by the operators themselves; what a center states and what it enforces are checked by nobody, which is why we phrase every entry as "on record." Second, the mapping is loose. Etnikas keeps a medical frame at $220 a day partly because groups of up to 18 spread the cost, while AyaSelva gets screening into a $1,200 price by keeping the operation family-run. Money buys medical infrastructure at some centers; at others, structure substitutes for spend. If your history includes anything on the contraindication list, the screening column matters more than the price column, full stop.

How should you handle deposits, payments and refunds?

Carefully, and in writing, before any money moves. Deposit and cancellation terms were not consistently published across the centers we researched, and the review record includes disputes over early departures and refunds. Get the terms in an email you can point to, and never book flights before your screening is accepted.

This is the least glamorous section of the guide and the one that decides whether a cancelled trip costs you a deposit or the whole budget. The pattern in our research is an information gap: centers publish prices and inclusions, but refund terms mostly live in emails and booking forms. The record also holds real disputes. None of that is damning. It is evidence that terms only protect you when they are explicit.
